Gateway Travel
Gateways are inter-constellation portals that connect different constellations of space. They're the only way to travel between constellations.
How to Use a Gateway
- Find a gateway — Gateways are located near constellation edges (3,000 units from the boundary)
- Fly within range — Get within 500 units of the gateway
- Press J — Activate the gateway
- Transition — A 2-second cutscene plays as you travel between constellations
- Arrive cloaked — You appear at the destination gateway with 20 seconds of invisibility
Gateway Properties
| Property | Value |
|---|---|
| Activation radius | 500 units |
| Visual radius | 150 units |
| Cooldown between uses | 10 seconds |
| Transition duration | 2 seconds |
| Post-gateway cloak | 20 seconds |
| Spawn distance from destination | 100 units |
Post-Gateway Cloak
After arriving through a gateway, you're invisible for 20 seconds. This gives you time to:
- Scout the destination constellation safely
- Decide whether to continue or retreat
- Move away from the gateway before being seen
The cloak breaks if you fire weapons or interact with objects.
Gateway Connections
Gateways are bidirectional — if constellation A has a gateway to constellation B, constellation B has a gateway back to constellation A.
Current Connections
- Origin Constellation (0,0) ↔ Iron Fields (1,0)
- Origin Constellation (0,0) ↔ Frontier Zone (-1,0)
Entering Dangerous Space
When using a gateway to enter a higher-tier constellation, be prepared! The Frontier Zone is a Red zone — ship loss is permanent. Make sure your bank holds anything you can't afford to lose.
Tips
- Use the cloak wisely — After arriving, take a moment to scan for threats before revealing yourself
- Gateway camping — Hostile players may camp gateways. Enter cautiously.
- Quick retreat — If a constellation is too dangerous, turn around and use the same gateway (after the 10-second cooldown) to return
- Cooldown planning — The 10-second cooldown means you can't instantly bounce between constellations. Plan your route.
